Those of you who know me, know that I am a big fan of RSS. It has become especially useful in my job hunt.
Various job sites have made RSS feeds available for job searches. All of them should make it a part of their search.
I wrote a post about Jobster earlier today. In it I mentioned I was recieving email alerts but wanted the job postings via RSS. Thanks to Christian who works for Jobster, I was able to add a feed for a job search for programmers in the Seattle area. The RSS feed becomes available whenever performing a search on the Jobster site.
I received another comment in the same post regarding Indeed.com. Indeed.com is a job search engine. They have an RSS feed for any search that is performed on the site as well. Very cool feature.
I want to know why all job sites don’t offer this same feature. Even though I don’t have a job, I don’t have the time (I also forget) to check a particular site every day. Luckily, I have other projects to keep me busy when I am not job searching.
I just took a look at Dice. They have the feature available as well. Monster does too. Good on you.
However, many companies with pages on their sites listing job opportunities do not offer RSS feeds for new jobs submitted. If they want to find the best (me), make it easy for me/them to find the jobs when they become available. Some companies have email notifications, but I, like many others, want RSS.
